Water Polo Saskatoon is excited to offer a series of free “Try-It” Water Polo clinics this summer for children ages 6 to 12. These beginner-friendly sessions will be held at George Ward and Riversdale outdoor pools during late July and August. Led by Saskatoon Pirates coaches—who regularly work with youth from ages 6 to 18—these clinics provide a fun and active way for kids to learn about the sport in a safe, welcoming environment.
Each one-hour session introduces participants to basic water polo skills, including dribbling with the ball, throwing techniques, and the triple threat position. Kids will also play small games that teach the rules and structure of the sport, leading up to a short scrimmage at the end of the session. Participants will be grouped by age and ability to ensure a positive experience for all levels.
Expert swimming skills are not required, but participants should be comfortable in the water; float belts and lifejackets will be available as needed.
Pre-registration is required so we can plan appropriately for group sizes and equipment needs. Once dates are confirmed with the City of Saskatoon, they will be shared on our website and social media platforms (@saskatoonwaterpolo).
Whether your child is interested in trying something new or just looking to stay active outdoors, this is a fantastic opportunity to explore water polo in a fun and supportive setting. It’s also a great introduction for families considering fall program registration.
